The exodus of Nigerian doctors to the UK and other developed countries has become a matter of international concern. Last year, it was estimated that an average of 12 doctors emigrate from Nigeria to practise in the UK every week. I was strongly attracted to Nnadi from the first day I saw him after Bible study. I didn't know his name. He wasn't working in any department and he wasn't conspicuous. Growing up, it was common for girls to pray for rich men as their husbands; men from abroad, men working in oil companies, men who will 'take care of me'. If a man intended to date and he had a car, his chances were higher. While there is nothing wrong with that, I wanted more - a man with good prospects, a hardworking man, a serious Christian, and of course a man that loved me. My NYSC Camp Experience At Lagos Camp 2014 Batch A (LA/14A)-Mar 11 to April 1, 2014

It was a rainy day. I had woken up early 'cause I had heard of the usual Lagos traffic jam, but I couldn't get out because the sky wept bitterly. I waited till it began to drizzle, at about 6 am, and I boarded a taxi from Yaba to the NYSC camp at Iyana Ipaja. I slept through out the journey and was awoken by the yelling of the street vendors persuading new corps members to buy buckets or take passport photos. I was glad I had seen the blog on requirements for NYSC camp and had come prepared. I didn't bring a bucket from home, because I knew they were going to sell such at the Mami market. So I ignored them all. At the gate, soldiers searched us and seized a lot of iPads, laptops, extension wires, forks, e.t.c. I didn't come with any of those because I was pre-informed on what to expect.              Registration was tiresome and annoying. I just didn't get why we needed to shuttle between venues to fill forms that could have been handed to us in one venue. At

My Comment On Linda Ikeji's Banana Island Mansion

Yesterday, Linda Ikeji posted pictures of her new house in Banana Island, Ikoyi, Lagos. She said she bought it for over half a billion Naira. I was among the people that shared the link not necessarily because I was very impressed with the house (and I was pretty much) but because of the inspirational message she added below the pics. I was really inspired and motivated by her message to young girls to believe in God and themselves, not look unto a man to save them from poverty, to be consistent in whatever they are doing. Her statements that struck me most were "you're more powerful than you think" and "when God wants to bless you, he will bless you, even if you're selling toothpick". Now my advice to the millions that saw her post and have since been making calculations, planning on a change of career or have been depressed thinking they are failures because a 35 yr old female could achieve this and they are 40 just managing to pay rent.

International Student: Settling In Nottingham

By now, you guys know I'm in the UK for a Masters programme at the University of Nottingham. For my previous post on my journey to UoN click here . Arriving at Nottingham First thing I noticed on arrival at Nottingham was the culture of hospitality. Everyone I asked for direction went out of their way to guide me. One saw me at the top of a staircase oneday and rushed up the stairs to help me carry my small box down the stairs. Another didn't know the way to where I had asked her but instead of dismissing me, she asked for my map and helped me to interpret it. How nice! It's a gross contrariety compared to what I experienced when I arrived Lagos in 2014. Everyone was so impatient. I  wouldn't have finished saying "excuse me" before they walked out on me.  They were all on their guard, reacting as if I were a beggar or a swindler. Lagosians were so hostile especially the bus conductors. In contrast, the customer service here is topnotch.  Next
